On behalf of the Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Society (OAAS), it is my pleasure to invite you and your staff to the 2023 OAAS Annual Meeting.

There is no cost to attend this meeting, however, registration is required to attend. Attendees must be affiliated with a practicing Allergist/Immunologist. Breakfast and Lunch are provided.

Jade Tam-Williams, M.D.

  • BIO: Dr. Tam-Williams, also known as Dr. Jade to her patients, strongly believes in breathing well and the importance of breathing good clean air. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida; but has spent most of her training and career all throughout Missouri falling in love with the Midwest life and people but wishes there was an ocean nearby.  Her passions are asthma, childhood interstitial lung disease, improving systems of care, improving diversity and equity in medical education and health care, and yoga. She lives by the Emerson quote “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”  Her research is in severe asthma, obesity-related asthma, cultural perceptions of asthma, as well as rare diseases such as childhood interstitial lung disease, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.


Richard L. Wasserman, MD, PHD

  • BIO: Dr. Wasserman is the Medical Director of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Medical City Children’s Hospital and a partner at Allergy Partners of North Texas. He served on the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School faculty from 1982 to 2015. He graduated cum laude from Hobart College, received a Ph.D. in immunology from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, and an MD from Southwestern Medical School. Following training in pediatrics and a fellowship in bone marrow transplantation and immunology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he was a fellow at Rockefeller University and then became Chief of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Southwestern Medical School. In 1988, Wasserman started a private practice in allergy/ immunology and a research group that has conducted more than 125 FDA-approved studies.  He directed the Immunology Clinic at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas for 19 years and is a past president and Newsletter editor of the Pediatric Society of Greater Dallas.  Wasserman is an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Allergy and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Food Allergy. He is a past member of the AAAAI Board of Directors and has served on the Editorial Boards of JACI: In Practice and the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He has co-authored more than 155 peer-reviewed publications, case reports, book chapters, and reviews.


William R. Lumry, M.D.

  • BIO: Dr. Lumry is a board certified Internist and Allergist. His is in private practice in Dallas, Texas treating adults and children with allergic diseases and asthma. He is a Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and teaches at Parkland Memorial and Presbyterian Hospitals in Dallas. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, completed his internal medicine training at Washington University in St. Louis and received his clinical and research fellowship in allergy and immunology from Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California.

Maeve E. O’Connor, MD, FACAAI, FAAAAI, FACP

  • BIO: Dr. Maeve O’Connor provides a more progressive approach to treating allergy, asthma, and immunology patients. She is board-certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She is one of only three specialists to have completed the University of Arizona Fellowship of Integrative Medicine and has been selected by her peers to be included in the Best Doctors of America database from 2011 to currently. Dr. O’Connor has been one of Charlotte Magazine’s “Top Doctors” for Adult Allergy/Immunology and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology since 2007-currently. Additionally, Dr. O’Connor is listed in North Carolina’s Best Doctors. She treats patients of all ages and is fluent in Spanish. Dr. O’Connor is the only board-certified allergist in the region offering sublingual immunotherapy and performing clinical research. She has published research articles on desensitization immunotherapy, asthma, and food allergy. She is currently involved in clinical research of asthma, allergic rhinitis, immune deficiency and novel treatments for atopic diseases. Dr. O’Connor performs volunteer Annual Asthma Screening events to help identify those patients in the community who may have untreated asthma. She also participates in Physicians Reach Out, a nonprofit outreach program that provides free primary and specialty medical visits to eligible uninsured residents in Mecklenburg County. Dr. O’Connor lectures extensively on all subjects involving allergy/immunology locally, nationally, and internationally.
